Highland Elementary School receives $5,000 grant for new books

Highland Elementary School is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries. Library Manager Tricia Akers expressed her excitement about the opportunities this grant will provide, particularly in expanding the library's collection. A key focus will be enhancing the non-fiction section for K-2 readers.

Highland Elementary is among 200 schools from 40 states across the nation to receive this grant. This year, the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries distributed a total of $1 million in grants to support school libraries with the greatest needs. The foundation's mission is to ensure that all students have access to quality books and resources, encouraging them to become lifelong readers and learners.

Since its establishment in 2002, the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries has awarded an impressive $22 million to over 3,800 schools across the country. Highland Elementary is proud to be a part of this legacy and is committed to using the grant to enrich the educational experience of its students.
