Message from the Principal

Welcome to Highland Elementary and the 2021-2022 school year.  Whether you are a returning family or new to our school we are excited to have you as part of our Highland family.  We have an amazing staff who truly care about every student who enters our building.

This handbook is intended to be a guide to help answer any questions you might have about policies and procedures at Highland.  I would encourage you to take a couple of minutes to read over its contents.

Highland is a Title 1 school which allows all students to have access to academic supports beyond core classroom instruction when needed.  We also have full time Music and PE teachers, a full time Behavior Intervention Specialist, and access to Band and Strings for 4th and 5th grade students.

We believe that building positive relationships with families and students is the fundamental building block for your child’s educational success.  We know that the process works best when the school and the family can work together as a team for the benefit of your child.  I look forward to working with each and every one of you as we launch into the new school year.

In these first few pages, I am including information that is specific to Highland including a map of our drop off/pickup procedures, and a copy of our parent involvement policy.

We are excited for this school year as we seek to Embrace, Engage, and Empower our students.

Warmly,

Nevin Van Manen
